High blood pressure is the case when an individual’s blood pressure goes beyond the normal ranges for the human heart. The reading for a normal blood pressure is lat most 120 over 80. High blood pressure readings would show at least 140 over 90. Any readings in between these two from 120 to 139 over 80 to 89 are considered to be cases of hypertension.

The readings above indicate the systolic over the diastolic pressures in the heart.  As blood pushes at the walls of a person’s arteries, blood pressure occurs. So whenever the heart beats, blood is pumped in the arteries. So blood pressure is highest whenever the heart beats. In BP reading, this is the systolic pressure. In contrast, the heart weakens when the heart is not beating as is the case between beats. In BP reading, this is known as the diastolic pressure.

Top 3 Problems Related to Hypertension

High blood pressure has several names including hypertension and benign essential hypertension.  Though high blood pressure is above the normal heart rate, it does not often manifest symptoms but can often result to serious cases of heart related problems. The top 3 problems include:

  • Stroke: This definitely requires emergency treatment and has the following symptoms: unexpected numbness on the left or right side of the body parts, immediate problems with speech and language comprehension, unexplained serious headache as well as unexpected and unexplained balance loss and sight problems without any probable reason. In case a person manifests these symptoms, bring the individual to the emergency room as soon as you can.
  • Heart Failure: This happens when the heart pumps insufficient blood needed by the body. Thus, the weakening of the ability of the heart to pump would invariably result to blood and other fluid backing up to the lungs and/or the development of edema or the building up of liquid in the legs including the feet and ankles. Other effects of this kind of hypertension include fatigue and tendencies to be out of breath.
  • Heart Attack: One of the main reasons of death in the world, heart attack requires immediate medical attention as soon as the following symptoms are observed: chest pains and pressure, difficulty in breathing, uncomfortable upper body parts as well as nausea and sweating.

To sum up, hypertension or high blood pressure needs to be avoided as it can have serious and even deadly results to individuals suffering from it. It does not help that there are no visible symptoms that one can look out for to be warned of it. So make sure to avoid developing high blood pressure for a healthy and long life.
